New Zealand is said to have secured two more COVID-19 vaccines which could be enough for the whole country population.
In a statement by the country’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern said COVID-19 vaccines will be available and purchased from pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca and Novavax and having secured three different vaccine technology, he also confirmed that every New Zealander will be vaccinated
The new agreements secure access to 7.6 million doses from AstraZeneca – enough for 3.8 million people, and 10.72 million doses from Novavax– enough for 5.36 million people. Both vaccines require two doses to be administered.
She noted that this will be New Zealand’s largest immunization rollout ever which will be provided for free and it’s also state that border workers and essential staff, the general public will get vaccines as soon as it’s available.
“We are moving as fast as we can, but we also want to ensure the vaccine is safe for New Zealanders,” the premier said,” she said.
New Zealand is leading the global fight against COVID-19 with no restriction on normal business activity in the country as the infection rate have been reduced of recent.
