Nigeria has recorded 169 fresh COVID-19 cases from 12 states on Thursday, but no fatality was recorded, data from the Nigeria centre for Disease control (NCDC),making it in total of 66,974 number of affected cases and stagnant 1,169 fatality cases with 62,585 recovered from COVID-19.
This amount of COVID-19 infection has placed Nigeria fifth on the list of African countries hit hardest by the disease, behind Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.
The 169 new cases were reported from 12 states which are; Kaduna (74), FCT (42), Lagos (17), Kano (8), Ogun (6), Oyo (6), Rivers (6), Ekiti /Bauchi (3), Katsina (2), Delta/Ondo (1).
The NCDC has issued warning to Nigerians not to let down their guards against the disease, and keep on following the safety protocols.
And concerning the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has advised citizens to suspend their Christmas and New Year travels to limit the risk of spreading or contracting the virus.
