Nigerians should vote us out if we’re not competent with our duty- Senate President

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has urged Nigerians to vote out any member of the National Assembly, including himself in 2023 if their performance in office is not up to task.

He declared this on Friday as he announced retreat organised for top management staff of the National Assembly in Abuja.

The lawmaker stated that it is preferable for Nigerians to vote out the current members of Federal lawmakers and replace them with better options in the future general elections, instead of debating to close down the National Assembly and agitating over the huge salaries and allowances enjoyed by members of the parliament.

He also revealed that the National Assembly is working on the passage of the 2021 Budget with an estimated amount of N13 trillion by December 2020.

The lawmaker gave an assurance that the 9th Assembly would work on the proposed constitutional amendment and review of the Electoral Act in 2021 as soon as possible.
