Police arrested a female Child Trafficker In Anambra, Rescue 12 Children (Photos)

The Suspect, Nkechi Odinye

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a notorious child-trafficker, Nkechi Odinye, 55 for allegedly running of children traffics business in the state.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, said she was arrested following the confessional statement made by three other child traffickers arrested in October 2019 at Nkpor market and Tarzan junction in Idemili North LGA.

Haruna said the children found with the three female traffickers arrested in Nkpor were actually kidnapped from Gombe State by one Hauwa Musa and brought to her associates in Anambra State.

During interrogation, the suspects made confessions that they usually kidnap children and bring them to their buyer, Mrs. Nkechi Odinye, who allegedly buys the children here in Anambra State at the rate of between two hundred and four hundred thousand naira depending on their age and gender.

The rescued kids

On the 31/8/2020,following the confession and the tip off, the Police detectives attached to onitsha Division Collaborated with Operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Cult Section(SPACS) and stormed the hideout of the principal suspect and her arrest at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Suspect who evaded arrest for over three years has remained on the run,busy changing locations until her arrest.The team equally rescued twelve children of various age and tribe,comprising of 8 boys and 4 girls which were said to have been stolen from different parts of the Country.” the statement read.

Haruna said the rescued children are presently under protective care and Investigation is still on.
